What Capture Exclusion Covers
By setting WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE on the application window handle, the Windows Desktop Window Manager (DWM) compositor removes the window surface from all screen buffers read by user-mode capture tools.
- Virtual Meeting Software: Excluded from Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco Webex, and Slack Huddles.
- Recording Software: Excluded from OBS Studio, Windows Game Bar (Win+G), Camtasia, and Loom.
- Screenshots: Excluded from Snipping Tool, PrintScreen, and Discord screen streams.
Documented Technical Boundaries
Translucent does not make unfounded "100% impenetrable" security claims. Be aware of the physical and kernel-level boundaries:
- Physical Cameras: Anyone pointing a physical phone or external camera at your monitor can see what you see.
- Hardware Splitters: Physical HDMI capture cards capturing raw signal outside your PC will receive full video.
