Welcome to Translucent. Your privacy and trust are our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy describes how Translucent collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our Windows desktop application and related services.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Translucent is built from the ground up with a privacy-first, stealth architecture:
No Keystroke Logging: We never log, store, or monitor your keystrokes. Global keyboard shortcuts are processed locally by Windows solely to toggle application visibility.
No Background Screen Tracking: Translucent never monitors or records your screen in the background. Screen capture is initiated strictly on-demand by the user via the Snip tool.
No Persistent Meeting Audio Storage: System speaker audio parsed via WASAPI NAudio loopback is transcribed locally on-device using our offline Whisper AI speech engine (Whisper.net with GGML tiny model) and Windows System.Speech. Zero audio recordings are preserved, uploaded, or transmitted to remote servers.
No Centralized Key Interception: Personal API keys (Google Gemini, Groq, OpenAI, DeepSeek) are encrypted locally on your physical device using the Windows Data Protection API (DPAPI).
2. Information Processed During Use
When you interact with Translucent, the following data is processed strictly according to your explicit user instructions:
AI Prompts & Vision Snippets: Sent over encrypted HTTPS/TLS 1.3 connections directly to the AI provider endpoint you have selected.
License & Device Identity: When activating Translucent Pro, your anonymous machine hardware hash (UUID) is sent to our licensing server to validate single-device seat entitlement.
3. Third-Party AI Providers
Translucent interacts with third-party AI APIs configured by you. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies:
